Larry Clark is a legendary photographer, artist and film director. Known for his unflinching eye for authenticity, Clark made his directorial debut in 1995 with Kids, scripted by Harmony Korine from an original story by Larry Clark and Jim Lewis. A deeply disturbing, documentary-like vision of a group of Manhattan teenagers consumed by drug use and unprotected sex, Kids screened In Competition at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival and was a cause celebre at Sundance. The film was distributed by Shining Excalibur, a company created by Miramax especially for the unrated release of Clark's critical and box-office success. In 1998 Clark directed James Woods and Melanie Griffith in Another Day in Paradise. Based on a story by an ex-con Eddie Little, the film tells the story of two aging outlaw junkies who iduct a couple of young lovers into a life of Crime

In 1963, drawing heavily on his own experiences, Clark began documenting the violent life of speed freaks for his seminal book of photography, Tulsa, published in 1972. He received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to produce Teenage Lust, a second collection of autobiographical photographs. Appearing in 1983, the book cemented Clark's status as an artist with a wholly uncomprimising vision and the most savage eye of his generation. His other books include 1992, publised in 1992 and The Perfect Childhood, published in Great Britain in 1993.

Clark's work is in the permanent collection of museums world-wide. He is recognized as on of the most important photographers of the twentieth century.

Ken Park, 2002

Ken Park focuses on several teenagers and their tormented home lives. Shawn seems to be the most conventional. Tate is brimming with psychotic rage; Claude is habitually harassed by his brutish father and coddled, rather uncomfortably, by his enormously pregnant mother. Peaches looks after her devoutly religious father, but yearns for freedom. They're all rather tight, or so they claim. But they spend precious little time together and none of them seems to know much about one another's family lives. This bizarre dichotomy underscores their alienation and the result of suburban ennui, a teenager's inherent sense of melodrama, and the disturbing nature of their home environments.

Kids, 1995

A disturbing portrayal of teenage life, AIDS, and the Kids of New York City. Controversial in its content, the film exposes the grim reality of a group of skate-boarders in the space of 24 hours. Primarily the story consists of Telly (Leo Fitzpatrick) a 17 year old slacker whose mission is to de-flower as many young girls as possible, whilst unprotected. Things turn bad when an old flame finds out she has tested positive for HIV and the only person she has had sex with is Telly. She chases through New York to find him but is too late as he has already de-flowered yet another innocent pre-teen.
